Lincoln City Foundation are pleased to announce the initial section of the first half marathon
event due to take place on Sunday 20 September 2020.
The community focused, charity ran event will head north from Boultham Park towards Tritton Road, past retail outlets and plenty of accessible public space for spectators to line the start of the race and cheer on all those taking part; runners and walkers.
From Tritton Road the route will turn onto Centaur Road and Beevor Street, then past Think Tank on Ruston Way before re-joining the main carriage way to travel over Brayford Bridge. From the bridge runners will turn left and enter the student village and the University of Lincoln campus itself, taking in the sights of the Brayford, glancing over hotels and restaurants towards the Cathedral.
Charlotte Hornsby, Operations Manager at Lincoln City Foundation said: “We are thrilled to release this part of the much-anticipated half marathon route and to be working with the University of Lincoln, who have embraced their involvement in our flagship event.
“We believe it has been nearly 30 years since an event of this kind has travelled through the centre of the city of Lincoln in this way which is hugely exciting for all involved.
“It is important to the Foundation and our event partner Curly’s Athletes that we engage with as many businesses and residents as possible along the route before we publically reveal details. Further sections of the race will be released over the next few months.”
Simon Parkes, Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of Lincoln, added: “Sport is a big part of life for our staff and students at Lincoln, with clubs, societies and activities which take place throughout the year. We are delighted to be able to support this new sporting event being brought to the city and showcase our beautiful city centre campus to all those taking part.”
