Anna Milner, 42, Tyne and Wear.
Anna started running around 12 months ago after a broken ankle injury saw her hang up her running shoes for more than 10 years.
After a difficult year in 2019, Anna wanted to set herself a challenge after being reminded of that “feeling” you get after a run and how this has helped her mental well-being as well as her physical health through her journey this year.
Anna is good friends with one of the organisers and supports the work of the Foundation in the Lincoln area, and is looking forward to experiencing this new event. When looking back at previous half marathons ran by Anna, she remembers how much she enjoyed and valued the support from spectators and the other runners.
Anna says “It has taken me a while to build up the confidence to run any kind of distance.
“I am quite competitive, so I find trying to beat my previous times and pushing myself further really motivates me.”
Anna’s training was going quite well until the cold weather started kicking in but plans to increase training again in the New Year.
Anna’s advice to all participants taking part is: “Just enjoy it! I am nowhere near as fit as I have been in the past, but I am just going to focus on my own fitness and enjoy the experience of the day.”
